Welcome to The Garfield Early Childhood Learning Center

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As you know, the staff at the Garfield Public Preschool is committed to striving toward optimum home and school relations. We believe that communication in these early years is a key element to your child's success. As always, we encourage your input and hope that you have a comfortable, ongoing relationship with your child's teacher. Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences through our district remote platform: Microsoft Teams to review your child's academic and social progress have been scheduled for December 1st and 2nd.

Tuesday, December 1, 2020                  6:00-7:45 P.M.
Wednesday, December 2, 2020           1:00 - 2:30 P.M.

During the virtual conference, you will have an opportunity to speak to the classroom teacher, regarding your child's progress since the start of school and the next steps in the educational process. This year due to the pandemic, Parent-Teachers Conferences will be held remotely in an abundance of caution. Each family must participate in a virtual conference in order to receive your child's first Progress Report which will be mailed home on December 18th.

Please make arrangements with your child's classroom teacher to schedule an appointment for your virtual conference and please make every effort to keep your scheduled time slot. All parents/guardians are expected to sign-up for a conference. A time slot will be assigned to those parents/guardians who do not sign-up for a conference. If none of the available times are convenient for you, please make arrangements with your child's classroom teacher to schedule another appointment. On December 1st and 2nd, the daily student remote learning will end at 12:25 p.m.

During this student remote learning phase, we encourage all parents to make sure, that the children attend and participate in the daily live lessons with their classroom teacher and teacher assistants to ensure student's academic growth and social development. You are reminded, that daily remote student attendance is required and recorded on a daily basis.

We thank you for your anticipated cooperation, as we work together to meet the challenges of this pandemic and look forward to welcoming the children back to the school building in January. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any difficulties or concerns you might have. On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, we wish you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Mr. Frank D'Amico, Principal         Dr. Nicole Grillo, Vice Principal
